PAST EVENTS - 2023 - 2024

Mon, July 8, 7:00 to 8:30, Olney Art Association Annual Critique member meeting. The beachKraft Gallery, 18200 Georgia Ave, Olney. Our critic will be our member and champion watercolorist painter and teacher, Karen Norman. Her website is https://karennorman.net.

June 5th to June 30th, 2024 Registration period for OAA 50th Anniversary Show at Sandy Spring Museum. Registration will open on June 1st.

Members in good standing can enter 3 artworks. If you are not a Member or need to renew Membership and wish to enter works in the Exhibition please go to the ABOUT page on this site. fill in the Membership Form and pay the Membership Fee Click here to become a member or renew membership.

Images for artwork entries must be carefully labeled according to the directions on the form and in the Prospectus. Images labelled incorrectly will not be accepted. Also all accepted 2D work must be ready for hanging but only works that are wired will be exhibited. Accepted 2D Pieces with sawtooth hangers or a single hole for a nail will not be exhibited.

Requirements for Digital Images to be submitted on the form: For 2D artwork submit one image for each artwork. For 3D artwork please submit 3 images with 3 different views of the image for each artwork.

Submit squared, cropped images with no frames showing. Only the image should show.

• Please submit digital images that are files of at least 1000 pixels onthe shortest side at a resolution of 72ppi. Ask for help if this is foreign to you.

• File names must be formatted as follows: Artist’s last name_ Artist’s first name_Title.jpg. Example: Doe_Jane_SunsetoverOlney.jpg.

• To register please complete the following tasks:

  1. Pay the one-time entry fee of $35. Click here to pay the fee. This fee helps pay exhibition costs such as juror’s fee, reception supplies, prize ribbons and etc. This link will work between June 5th through June 30, 2024. Once you have paid return to this page and complete the steps below.

  2. You may enter 3 different artworks between the dates of June 5 and June 30th. Fill out one form for each artwork. Click here to enter an art work for jurying.

  3. After submitting the form for one work you will be returned to this page. You can click on this link twice more any time between June 5th and June 30th and submit two additional works. If you have any questions or want to change one of your entries please contact Lori Myers at newsletter@olneyartassociation.org.

Join the Olney Art Association (OAA) at Lone Oak Brewery in Olney on Saturday, May 11 for a plein air painting and charity fund raiser from 11:30-7:00 p.m. Lone Oak is one of the most popular breweries in the area. Horses from Common Ground at Paradise Stables will be on site. Artists will have the opportunity to display a work and do plein air painting. There will be a limited number of slots for registrants (capped at 25) for those wishing to display previously completed work on site that will be sold through the OAA website, only. First come, first served. For questions, email Eileen Crowe at birdsofafeathermaryland@gmail.com. Register by filling out thorm below by April 26th. There are no fees for this event as it is part of a charity event for Common Ground. Some of their horses will be onsite for you to paint and/or visit with the help of Common Ground owners and trainers.

Sales”There is an online store for artworks preregistered and on view through the day. Click here to go to the Store. All online sales proceeds go to the artist after online fees are assessed.  On site volunteers will direct buyers to the OAA web site for sales of these egistered works.  All art must be family friendly, framed, and wired (no saw tooth hooks). Funds from registered, previously completed work will be disbursed to the artist via checks issued by OAA. Artists will be paid within thirty days of the event. Artists are responsible for paying their own sales tax.

Sales from plein air pieces created on the event day may be sold directly through the artist via Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, or Square or check.  Please be sure to bring your phone and/or your checkbook. Again, sales of plein aire pieces will be handled by the individual artists, not by OAA volunteers.

OAA Show at The beachKraft Gallery, 18200 Georgia Ave Olney Md - 2nd floor - April 2 to April 30, 2024. Please read the attached Prospectus for instructions on how to submit your images. Artworks must be within the size limits mentioned in the Prospectus. You may enter 3 images in the format requested in the Prospectus, and pay $25, regardless of how many entries, with a maximum of 3 images.

Drop off of accepted work at The beachKraft Gallery, 18200 GA Ave, 2nd floor, Olney, Md is on March 26th, 11am to 4:30pm

The Exhibition runs from April 2, 2024 to April 30, 2024.

Artists Reception is Saturday April 20th from 2 to 4pm at The beachKraft Gallery

Pickup date for unsold work is May 4, 2024 from 11:30am to 5pm.

Mon, Nov 13, 7 - 9pm Annual OAA dinner at Sandy Spring Meeting, 17715 Meeting House Rd in Sandy Spring, MD. Dinner is in the Lyceum, the white building on the left as you enter the Meeting campus. Look for signs. Dinner will be catered by Kloby’s. Registration is now closed.

July 10 to August 14th, 2023, Annual Juried Show at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. Juror for the exhibition will be Lisa V. Denison, speaker at our May 2023 meeting, artist and teacher at The Compass Atelier in Rockville, Md. Artists may enter up to 3 artworks for a one-time fee of $20 whether you enter one, two or three paintings.

—June 1, 2023 - Registration for the Juried Show begins at 9AM.

• a) Please send images and artwork label details about a maximum of 3 artworks to freddiweiner@gmail.com. It is very hard to work with images without adequate label information. Label information should include all of the following:

  • Full title of the work

  • Media used

  • Framed size - all work must be framed or gallery wrapped or it will not be hung in the show.

  • Price

b) Pay the entry fee of $20. Click here to pay online. Only one fee needs to be paid whether you submit one, two or three works.

c) Artists may bring binwork to sell. Download the form here. It is a Word Doc so you may type your info right into it. Don’t forget to hit save when you complete the form: Type in your Name, Name of artwork (title), the Price and enter the word “binwork” in the 4th column. We will accept up to five entries. Attach and Return completed form to: newsletter@olneyartassociation.org. Make sure all binwork pieces have labels on the back with artist’s name, title, media. Without that label it will be difficult if not impossible to pay you if a binwork is sold.

—July 10, 2023 - Bring accepted works to Brookside Gardens between 10 and 11AM.All work for the show must be framed or gallery wrapped and ready for hanging with D-ring hooks and wire. Works will not be accepted for hanging if they are not ready for hanging. If you have binworks make sure they are labeled and that you bring along the binwork form.

July 10, 2023 7-9 Member Critique Meeting with Lisa Denison, our juror for the Brookside show at The beachKraft Gallery on the 2nd floor at 18200 Georgia Ave, Olney, MD 20832. There is an elevator to the 2nd floor not far from The Olney Crab House. There are also stairs on either side of the building.
